Designer Tip: Throw it Out

No, this isn't a post about spring cleaning, decluttering, or making room for new things; it's about swapping out a throw blanket or tossing a new pillow into the mix to update your look.  I'm really liking this room and think it's a great example of how neutral decorating can make your life easier if you're hesitant to use color.
This room has some of my favorite things, zebra, a sisal rug, an ottoman, and white upholstery.  If you're afraid or hesitant to use pattern or lots of color in your room - simply add one or two accessories with a color or pattern of your choice.  When you tire of that color or pattern, throw it out (well, not really, donate please) and replace it with something new to you.

This room has an orange throw blanket, artwork, and flowers.  How cool would this room look if you replaced those items with cobolt blue, lavendar, or hot pink accents.  It's a blank slate to express your style, however bold or muted it may be.   image via: women's day
