Manly Monday: Dark Side

Working with clients, I often hear how they don't want their wall color to be too dark.  Why are we so afraid of color on the walls?  A dark color creates the illusion of more space, as corners and architectural details blend together when covered in a dark hue.  Dark walls can be sumptuous, attention grabbing, and extremely cozy.

Dark walls also make your fabrics stand out - and with colorful fabrics and fun geometric patterns like this, you want them to be front and center.  Images via:  Christina Murphy Interiors

Bedroom Reveal!

I'm completely and totally happy with the outcome of my bedroom.  It started out as a plain white space with no personality.  Now I love the bright color and warmth that the room gives off.  I love going in there to read and watch tv because it is so cozy.  I think it's a great room for a man and a woman to share, it isn't too feminine and uses earthy colors.  Click here to see the before images.

The curtains are Ritva from IKEA in brown.  The throw blanket is from TJMaxx.

The toss pillows are Bennet in Teal and Aashka from Crate & Barrel

The sunburst mirror is from CSN Stores.  Read my review here.

Of course I had to add a little touch of zebra...

Product Review: Sunburst Mirror

I just received my new mirror from CSN Stores and love it, love it, love it.  It's the Ashton Sutton Gold Sunburst Mirror and it's the perfect finishing touch to my current bedroom project.   It's pretty big, yet not heavy, so it was very easy to hang.

It came in a huge box and took a little time to get out, but it was well worth it.  The gold is luminous and shimmers.  I'm so happy that I selected this item!

The mirror came with some dried spackle-like substance around the edge of the mirror, which made it look a little messy...

But I rubbed the dried substance off with a dry felt tip pen (a silver metallic pen that is new) and it came right off and looks like a million bucks!

And here is the spot that was just begging for a sunburst mirror and a sneak peek of the finished bedroom:

Thanks CSN Stores for letting me review a product from your 200+ stores.  I love the mirror!
